News BFI Film Academy – That's a Wrap! Our BFI Film Academy Edinburgh and South East of Scotland Network programme has wrapped for another year, with 21 participants aged 16 to 19 participating in our 14 week programme, receiving advanced training in film, including screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, culminating in the production of the short films Every Rose and Locked Out, that seen each participant rotating through the key roles scene by scene to be given a comprehensive learning experience. Participants also took part in industry events and masterclasses, building their knowledge and understanding of the film sector, progression to further and higher education, and employment routes into the film and TV industries. Alongside attending FANS Youth Film Festival, Scotland's festival celebrating youth film, participants also engaged in masterclasses with Academy Award nominated animator Nuria Gonzalez Blanco, Edinburgh Napier University's Paul Gray, and LS Productions' Sarah Drummond on the course. BFI Film Academy participants also worked towards gaining the BFI/Screen Skills NCFE Level 2: Preparing to Work in the Film Industry qualification, which enables learners to learn about working culture in the film industry, professional development opportunities, working practice, legislation and film analysis, whilst reflecting on their journey, knowledge and skills gained throughout the course.
