Our In the Frame programme, funded by Inspiring Scotland's Creative Communities fund, has been developing adult learners from across North Edinburgh through an in depth documentary learning programme giving them the confidence, skills, and knowledge to produce short documentaries focused on their lives and their community. Led by SEE's film tutors Paul Sng and Jenny Souter, the learners have been developing weekly in camera, sound, directing, editing, interview techniques and production, alongside a grounding in documentary form and its history through film watching, including cultural cinema trips, film discussion, and analysis.

Learners developing a series of short documentaries either individually or collaborating in small groups, they are now moving into production of their films in the new year, followed by post production and the showcasing of their completed productions.

Over the months, In the Frame has made a marked contribution to mental health, wellbeing, and helped to reduce isolation for adult learners affected by the covid pandemic and its numerous challenges, with one learner reporting ‘'I have really improved mentally and thinking more creative and motivated and productive' whilst another commented ‘'having been in hospital with Covid and pneumonia, it has very much cheered me up and made me feel more like my old self to be with this creative group of folk and the tutors’.
