Our organisation has always been passionate about developing new filmmakers and offering a route in for those marginalised, those with no formal education in film, and as a bridge between aspiring independent filmmakers and talent development schemes.

Script to Screen

our scheme running throughout the late 90’s and early 00’s focused on developing new storytelling, production and post production skills of adults resident in Edinburgh’s housing schemes.

Streetwise

the first high definition short film scheme in Scotland which captured drama and documentary stories from ‘the streets of Edinburgh’ first taking place in the mid 00's.

Take 5

a shorts scheme supporting the development of new talent across Edinburgh and South East Scotland through development, equipment, production office, rehearsal and post facilities support in order to make a 5 minute film first taking place in 2014.

Write Shoot Cut Shorts

In 2018 Write Shoot Cut Shorts developed 7 new screenwriters aged 16 to 25 from across Edinburgh and Lothians going through training and development to pen their short scripts, with two films chosen by a judging panel of author and screenwriter Irvine Welsh, Sarah Drummond from LS Productions and our Development Officer Graham Fitzpatrick.

Legacy

Over the years powerful and distinct films have been made and careers ignited. The films have been nominated for and won BAFTA Awards, screened and won awards at film festivals across the world, with alumni progressing onwards to forge careers in the industry, producing and working on further shorts, feature films and TV drama series, with many progressing into further and higher education including three studying at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield.
