Alistair is Associate Professor of Film and Television at Edinburgh Napier University. After working on community arts projects he was a postgraduate student at the National Film & TV School in the 1980s, and then worked as a Producer and Director in broadcast television. He has made documentaries with local communities for over 30 years from Leithers (Channel 4, 1988) to Raploch Stories: Where are they now? (BBC, 2017). In 2005 he moved to teach in higher education.
