  1. Who we are
  2. Our mission

Our mission

Scotland's oldest filmmaking organisation, Screen Education Edinburgh (SEE) is dedicated to making film accessible for all. We develop skills, knowledge and passion in filmmaking for young people, schools, adult learners, communities and independent filmmakers, through our education, production and training programmes.

We offer a range of opportunities, from qualification programmes and film production training to low cost equipment hires, as well as access to meeting, screening and small studio facilities at our multi-purpose learning and production centre in North Edinburgh and through outreach activity across the City.

Over the past four decades, SEE has been dedicated to nurturing new and undiscovered talent, with an expertise in developing people from areas of deprivation and low income backgrounds, towards film study and industry entry.

We have a rich history of producing inclusive drama and documentary films focused on the lives of those from under represented communities – our films have been screened on television, online and at film festivals, winning numerous BAFTA and film festival awards.

Our film production team produces content for public, voluntary and social enterprise sector clients, including event, corporate, training and information films. SEE's unique approach enables learners from underrepresented backgrounds to be integrated into each production team, further developing their skills, knowledge and employability.
