On the 28th of January, Screen Education Edinburgh worked together with North Edinburgh Arts, North Edinburgh Community Festival and West Pilton Neighbourhood Centre to host the North Edinburgh Film Festival featuring a variety of exciting events that celebrated the spirit, vibrance, and rich history of North Edinburgh on screen.

The festival included a screening of films created during our In the Frame programme, which resulted in a series of heartfelt documentaries produced by community members about their lives and their community, particularly in response to the covid pandemic. Screened alongside these were the films created by North Edinburgh Art as part of their Art for Grown-Ups project and a selection a selection of films from our archive covering life in the area over the past five decades. For the younger ones, we hosted a free filmmaking workshop, giving them a taste of what it would be like to make their own films themselves.

All in all, the North Edinburgh Film Festival was a great success showcasing local talent, brimming with creativity and passion. We are looking forward to many more events like this in the future!
