Young Filmmakers Hub Groups have been creating their short films

Over this past month our Young Filmmakers Hub groups have been super busy, with our 12 to 13 year old's shooting and editing their short, The Promotion, creating something to be very proud of. The youngsters can't wait to continue their filmmaking development ahead.

Our 14 to 15 and 16 to 18 year old groups have engaged with industry professionals Robbie Jones (1^st AC) and Philip Curran (Film/TV composer) who delivered inspiring industry masterclass, whilst development of their short films gathers pace towards production, with 4 shorts being made including a dark comedy and horror film, whilst our 16 to 18 year old group continue their Arts Award study.

Funded by The Sean Connery Foundation and City of Edinburgh Council, our Young Filmmakers Hub is a year round programme developing young people aged 12 to 18 from across Edinburgh through weekly term time activity at SEE and holiday courses.

BFI Film Academy Craft Skills

On our BFI Film Academy Craft Skills Residential course, learners receive intensive learning in screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, engage in industry masterclasses, and produce a short film. Applications for the summer 2024 course are now open!

The Screen Progression Programme is a national initiative managed by Screen Education Edinburgh and funded by Screen Scotland that provides access to high quality vocational development in Film and TV skills. For those aged 16 and over with no upper age limit.
