Applications are now open for our SEE Young Filmmakers hub. Are you aged 12–18, based in Edinburgh and interested in filmmaking? Then this course is for you!

Each week you’ll get hands-on experience in filmmaking; from storytelling and cinematography to sound, production design and editing. Along the way, you’ll take part in cinema trips, industry masterclasses and even make your own short films in a fun, supportive environment. No homework, just pure creativity with likeminded people!

Running from Sept 2025 - May 2026, sessions take place weekly in the evenings here at Screen Education Edinburgh.

BFI Film Academy Scotland Short Course Programme

The BFI Film Academy Scotland Short Course Programme has courses for 16- to 19-year-olds taking place in Edinburgh at Screen Education Edinburgh, in Ayrshire at Ayrshire Film Co, in the Scottish Highlands at Eden Court Highlands, in Glasgow at GMAC, and in Aberdeen at Station House Media Unit.
BFI Film Academy Specialist Residential: Production Management

SEE was originally known as Pilton Video, which was founded in 1981 to work exclusively in North Edinburgh to develop people, support the work of local organisations, and be at the heart of community development through film education and production.
Edinburgh & Lothians Schools Film Competition

Edinburgh & Lothians Schools Film Competition is a celebration of short film made by local children and young people. Free to enter for all City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian nursery, primary, secondary and special schools.
