Our BFI Film Academy learners recently attended masterclasses with industry professionals Felicity Good and Sabrina Linder. Felicity delivered an interactive session exploring the role of a Set Decorator, offering fascinating insights into her process and work on Ghost Writer, Suspiria, and the recent I Swear.

Sabrina’s masterclass focused on Production Design, with the youngsters exploring the possibilities in this area for their developing short films, receiving thoughtful and constructive feedback. She encouraged participants to think deeply about design choices that can enhance narrative, character, and tone. Both sessions were incredibly inspiring and informative, equipping learners with valuable knowledge and insight.

two of the BFI groups shot their films last weekend, with one filming around North Edinburgh, from underpasses to local shops, for their film 'Wings'. All members of the crew came up with fantastic ways to shoot characters navigating their surroundings.

The 'What's in a Bowl' shoot group did extremely well to follow a tight schedule, with six locations to cover, including a very helpful Chinese supermarket, whilst the group also gave part of SEE a fresh new Chinese themed decor for the film.

Well done to all involved, and we can't wait to see their final films.
