Edinburgh & Lothians Schools Film Competition 2022 open for entries

We are delighted to announce that the Edinburgh & Lothians Schools Film Competition 2022 in partnership with Edinburgh International Film Festival and Arts & Creative Learning, City of Edinburgh Council is open for entries.

Free to enter for all nursery, primary, secondary and special schools in the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian, the competition offers the opportunity for selected schools, and their pupils, to watch their work on the big screen as part of a special EIFF screening event and awards ceremony at Edinburgh Filmhouse in June 2022.

Applications are also open for taking part in the competition's Youth Jury, young people aged 14 to 18, who select the films, decide upon, and present the awards in each category.

BFI Film Academy Craft Skills

On our BFI Film Academy Craft Skills Residential course, learners receive intensive learning in screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, engage in industry masterclasses, and produce a short film. Applications for the summer 2023 course are now closed.
