Our Year in Review

As 2023 draws to a close, here at Screen Education Edinburgh we can't help but reflect on the whirlwind year it's been!

From developing learners on our training and educational programmes, to highlighting emerging filmmakers and launching exciting new projects, we are proud of everything we have accomplished in 2023, and grateful for all the incredible people we have worked with.

With your support, we look forward to 2024 as we continue our over four decades long mission to make filmmaking accessible to all.

SEE to Deliver Practical Filmmaking Summer School to Teachers Across Scotland

We are excited to announce we are delivering a Summer School for Teachers as part of a GTCS accredited programme with a focus on practical filmmaking.

Our Through the Lens programme that amplifies the voices of people in their communities through short filmmaking has launched across Edinburgh.
Applications open for our new Community Filmmaking Programme

Applications are now open for our new Community Filmmaking Programme, open to people aged 18 and over (with no upper age limit) living in North and Southeast Edinburgh.
Through the Lens

Our Through the Lens programme will amplify the voices of local people in their communities by providing a platform to express themselves through short films, documentary, or fiction.

BFI Film Academy Craft Skills

On our BFI Film Academy Craft Skills Residential course, learners receive intensive learning in screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, engage in industry masterclasses, and produce a short film. Applications for the summer 2023 course are now closed.

Screen Progression Programme

The Screen Progression Programme is a national initiative managed by Screen Education Edinburgh and funded by Screen Scotland that provides access to high quality vocational development in Film and TV skills. For those aged 16 and over with no upper age limit.
Set the Scene: Development of Teachers and Pupils in Filmmaking

Set the Scene is a free programme designed to develop and strengthen the filmmaking knowledge, skills, and practice of teachers and pupils in schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Who We Are
