Submissions open for the next Edinburgh Shorts Showcase

Screen Education Edinburgh is delighted to announce we are now accepting submissions for the next Edinburgh Shorts Showcase, presented with the 48 Hour Film Project.

The Edinburgh Shorts Showcase gives a platform to emerging filmmakers based in Edinburgh, showcasing the incredible diversity and breadth of talent within our local film scene.

If you are an Edinburgh-based filmmaker who would like to see your work screened at the iconic Cameo Picturehouse, this is an amazing opportunity!

Submissions close on the 15th of November.

After taking part in SEE’s BFI Film Academy Short Course Craft Skills Residential, and SEE Youth, Kaitlyn started to work on projects at SEE and now works full-time in the Scottish screen industry. Here, Kaitlyn reflects on how both SEE’s courses and supportive community have benefitted her life.

BFI Film Academy Craft Skills

On our BFI Film Academy Craft Skills Residential course, learners receive intensive learning in screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, engage in industry masterclasses, and produce a short film. Applications for the summer 2023 course are now closed.

Screen Progression Programme

The Screen Progression Programme is a national initiative managed by Screen Education Edinburgh and funded by Screen Scotland that provides access to high quality vocational development in Film and TV skills. For those aged 16 and over with no upper age limit.

Edinburgh & Lothians Schools Film Competition is a celebration of short film made by local children and young people. Free to enter for all City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, West Lothian and Midlothian nursery, primary, secondary and special schools.
