25 young people from across the UK took part in our BFI Film Academy Craft Skills 2022 programme, including short film and screenwriting development online throughout July, and key craft skills development, short film production, and industry engagement as part of an 8 day residential in Edinburgh.
Into Film Awards : 'The Lonely Polar Bear' Wins Best Animation - 11 and Under

One of our learners Alex Ribes Cooke, who took part in our 'Your Take' project, where he created his own animation called "The Lonely Polar Bear" has just won the best 11 and under Animation Award at the Into Film Awards. Fantastic News, Congratulations Alex!

BFI Film Academy Edinburgh & South East Scotland

BFI Film Academy offers opportunities for ambitious 16 to 19 year olds aiming to know more about film and how to make a career in the screen industries. This hands-on filmmaking course builds knowledge and skills, and shows the pathways into the industry for talented and committed young people.
BFI Film Academy Craft Skills

On our BFI Film Academy Craft Skills course for young people aged 16 to 19 across the UK, learners receive advanced and intensive craft learning in screenwriting, cinematography, sound, directing, production and editing, engage in industry masterclasses, and produce a short film.

Our story

SEE was originally known as Pilton Video, which was founded in 1981 to work exclusively in North Edinburgh to develop people, support the work of local organisations, and be at the heart of community development through film education and production.
